Rescue Junction was originally a brother/sister bluegrass duo from Millbank, Ontario specializing in Gospel Bluegrass. Growing up in a very Southern Gospel influenced home, Kyle and Kaitlyn were first introduced to bluegrass during their family’s five year residence in Goshen, Indiana. They were taught mandolin (Kyle) and guitar (Kaitlyn) by Goshen’s T.G. School of Music instructor Jay Lapp (currently touring with Trent Wagler & The Steel Wheels). On their return to Ontario in 2006, Kyle and Kaitlyn were both eager to resume their musical ambitions and in the summer of ’08 attended the Steve Hurst School of Music in Nashville, Tennessee. While there, Kyle studied vocals and arranging, and Kaitlyn focused on songwriting. In the summer of 2009 they asked Roger Martin to add his lightening banjo and harmony vocals to the group and fortunately for the future of Rescue Junction, he obliged! A year later, after performing as a trio, the band was finally able to round out their sound by adding Dallas Roth on the upright bass and harmony vocals.
Rescue Junction released their debut self-titled album in September 2011 and have received a lot of positive feedback. Songs range from Stanley Brothers traditional tunes to Dailey & Vincent covers and Rescue Junction originals.
As a band, Rescue Junction combines their diverse musical tastes with their passion for bluegrass resulting in a sound that is both rooted in tradition and brand new at the same time. The goal of every Rescue Junction member is to glorify God through music and to share the love of Christ with everyone they can.
